Thomas Chellingsworth is a local partner in our Brussels office. He is recognised as a leading energy law expert, with extensive experience of electricity and gas projects and litigation. He heads our Energy & Utilities and Competition & Regulatory Teams.

About Thomas Chellingsworth

Thomas’ practice covers numerous legal aspects of the energy sector, with a focus on sectoral regulations and contract negotiation. He advises on offshore and onshore energy projects and drafts and negotiates PPAs, construction contracts (often FIDIC-based) and O&M agreements. He advises on subsidy mechanisms, submarine and underground cables and closed distribution systems. He represents parties in civil, administrative and constitutional litigation. Thomas is recognised as a leading lawyer in his field of expertise by Chambers & Partners Europe and Legal 500. He is also recognised as an expert in energy law by the Best Lawyers guide (2017). Loyens & Loeff’s energy practice in Belgium is ranked in band 1 by both Chambers & Partners Europe and Legal 500. He has extensive experience of competition law, including numerous European and Belgian merger filings.
