Loyens & Loeff congratulates Northwind with the refinancing of its offshore wind farm

In June, Loyens & Loeff helped Northwind to secure EUR 525,000,000 to refinance its 216 megawatt (MW) offshore wind farm.

The wind farm is on the Lodewijkbank, 37km off the Belgian coast, and consists of 72 wind turbines. It is owned by Aspiravi Offshore, Parkwind and Sumitomo Corporation.


The refinancing came from a syndicate of lenders, including ASN Bank, Belfius, BNP Paribas, Rabobank, ING, KBC, Natixis, Société Générale, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Eksportkreditt Norge.


Loyens & Loeff supported the Northwind team and its shareholders throughout the process. Jones Day advised the lenders.


The Northwind wind farm is owned by Aspiravi Offshore, Parkwind and Sumitomo Corporation.

Loyens & Loeff has extensive experience with renewable energy projects, including advising Belwind (165 MW), Nobelwind (165 MW) and Norther (370 MW) on the financing and construction of their North Sea wind farms. They also helped the lenders and arrangers with the non-recourse financing of the C-Power (325 MW) and Rentel (309 MW) wind farms.
